Dates for your Diaries
Key Dates for 2026
As we reach the end of the season we thought it important to outline our plans for the colts section going forward.
Firstly, we’ve two more weeks of training sessions outside before we think it will be too cold and wet.
Dates for your diary
4-5th October clubhouse and grounds weekend. We ask as many people as possible to come along to help us set down from the season and prep for next season. If anyone wants to come down to help even if you can only come for an hour it would be amazing.
18th October 7-10pm colts awards and quiz
April 12th Easter family fun day
April 14th cricket training starts
August 17th-21st cricket camp week
Winter plans Then for the winter there is still a bit of finalising to be done but we are aiming to enter:
- Under 13s indoor league (some Sundays)
- Under 11s soft ball indoor league (some Sundays)
- October - December intro to hardball nets. Likely to be Tuesday evenings in Littlehampton.
- January – March winter hard ball nets coaching with Alex King. Likely to be Tuesday evenings in Lancing.
- We have looked at other U10 soft ball fun cricket options and to be honest leisure centre costs are too prohibitive so instead we are just going to advertise that Sussex do Street Cricket on a Tuesday evening at Worthing Leisure Centre and suggest that this is a good fun option. Tuesday 5pm Worthing leisure centre, more details to follow.
Summer plans - we will enter:
• Mixed U10s led by Paul Holford and generally play matches on Saturday mornings
• Mixed U11s led by Ben Young and generally play matches on alternate Sunday mornings (not clasing with U12s)
• Mixed U12s led by Pete Whyatt and generally play matches on alternate Sunday mornings (not clasing with U11s)
• Mixed U15 led by Liam Day and generally play matches on Wednesday evenings
• Girls U15 led by Mike and Claire Lewis and generally play matches on Thursday evenings We are intending to enter the girls in the same age group as this year being U15s with the view the girls will all be a year older in that age group, it ensures fixtures and we will cross our fingers there are some a bit closer to home this year!
We are still considering what to do on U13s (Friday evening games) and U14s (Monday evening games) but may yet enter one of those although U13s is harder to do given ground use on a Friday.
- Training will then be slightly different format next year:
• Tuesday at around 6pm will be advanced hard ball for adult and U15s training
• Fridays at 5pm Family Cricket for 6-8 year olds
• Fridays at 5pm U10s soft ball training
• Fridays 6.15pm hard ball sessions
• Fridays 6.15pm U15 girls sessions
- For the summer holidays, we intend on entering teams in all these festival weeks:
· U11 - 24/8
· U12 - 27/7
· U13 - 10/8
· U14 - 3/8
- This leaves the week of 17 August to be our summer camp week. If you’ve continued to read this far, thank you, we also plan to send a couple of questionnaires around which we would be grateful if you could quickly complete. The first of these will be an anonymous form just asking for feedback on this season. The second will be not anonymous and aimed at finding out more about your plans for next season based on the above outline. As always any questions please shout and if anyone wants to help with any of this please let me know.
